Part 1: Understanding Organic Gardening – Theory Session
You will relax in a peaceful green setting, enjoy a cup of herbal tea, and learn from Hang Le, a nutritionist, herbal researcher, and founder of An Farm Hoi An. She will share insights on:
- The nutritional differences between organically grown produce and conventionally grown produce cultivated with chemical inputs.
- The issue of chemical contamination and harmful residues commonly found in conventionally grown agricultural products.
- The fundamental principles of organic farming, including how to nourish and restore soil health, rebuild beneficial soil microorganisms, improve soil quality, and create a balanced and sustainable ecosystem.
- The basic principles of growing plants organically, as well as practical methods for caring for and nurturing vegetables, fruits, and herbs using organic techniques.
Part 2: Home Organic Gardening – Hands-on Practice
You will explore our organic farm and learn practical ways to grow and care for vegetables, fruits, and herbs using natural organic methods that can easily be applied in your own home.
All techniques are based on the philosophy of “Simple – Low Cost – Sustainable and Effective.”
During this hands-on session, you will learn:
- How to design and create a vegetable or herb garden that suits your living space.
- How to grow plants in a backyard, balcony, porch, rooftop, pathway, open kitchen area, or any sunny window space.
- How to restore a natural ecosystem and nurture healthy soil and beneficial soil microorganisms.
- How to grow legumes and green manure crops using simple and cost-effective methods.
- How to improve soil fertility naturally with legumes and green manure plants.
- How to raise earthworms and produce nutrient-rich vermicompost.
- How to make organic compost at home using kitchen scraps and garden waste.
- Natural propagation techniques, including seed sprouting, seed sowing, stem cuttings, seed saving, and plant propagation.
- How to care for plants using organic gardening methods.
This practical experience will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to start your own organic garden at home, regardless of the size of your space. You will learn by doing, through immersive hands-on activities and real-world experiences on the farm.
Part 3: Learning How to Harvest, Process, and Preserve Vegetables and Herbs at Home
In this session, you will learn simple yet effective methods for harvesting, preparing, processing, and preserving vegetables, fruits, and herbs at home while maintaining their flavor, color, and nutritional value.
You will learn:
- How to properly harvest vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
- How to preserve home-grown produce through pickling, fermentation, freezing, drying, and powdering, allowing it to be stored and used for 6 months to 1 year.
- How to transform herbs into seasonings, herbal teas, and natural wellness products for everyday use.
Learning takes place through hands-on experiences and practical activities throughout the farm, allowing you to gain real-world knowledge and skills that you can easily apply at home.
Part 4: Enjoy a Healthy Meal
You’ll sit down and enjoy the healthy meal with all the home and fresh foods be cook in our farm with our ingredients.
The menu is flexible with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, thoughtfully prepared to suit each guest’s needs and preferences.
